Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 lb potato gnocchi (shelf-stable or fresh)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan, plus more for serving
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

- 1/4 cup fresh basil, torn
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, broth, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the gnocchi directly to the sauce, stirring gently to submerge. Cover and simmer 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until gnocchi are tender.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream and Parmesan until the sauce is smooth and glossy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat, scatter fresh basil over the top, and serve immediately with extra Parmesan.
