- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cups cooked, diced chicken breast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Cook penne in salted boiling water until just al dente, according to package directions, then drain.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the cream, cooking for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in the parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until the sauce is smooth, then remove from heat.
- Toss the cooked pasta and diced chicken with the alfredo sauce until well coated, then transfer to the baking dish and top with mozzarella.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden in spots.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
