Ingredients
- 4 bagels (plain, everything, or sesame), split
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 8 ounces thinly sliced smoked salmon (lox)
- 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 English cucumber, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons capers, drained
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill, plus extra sprigs for garnish
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
- to taste Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Toast the split bagels until golden and crisp on the cut sides.
- Spread a generous layer of softened cream cheese over each bagel half while still warm.
- Layer the smoked salmon in loose folds over the cream cheese, covering each half.
- Arrange thin slices of cucumber and red onion over the salmon.
- Scatter capers evenly across the top.
- Garnish with fresh dill and a few grinds of black pepper.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges for squeezing over the top.
