  1. Whisk the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt together in a wide, shallow dish until fully combined.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the custard, letting it soak for about 20 seconds per side so it absorbs the liquid without falling apart.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat until foamy.
  4. Cook the soaked bread slices in batches for 3-4 minutes per side, until deep golden brown and cooked through in the center.
  5. Add more butter to the pan between batches as needed.
  6. Keep finished slices warm on a wire rack set over a baking sheet in a low oven while cooking the rest.
  7. Serve hot, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with fresh berries and warm maple syrup.
